Tanner on Tanner is a sequel to a groundbreaking mini-series Tanner ' 88. Focusing on a documentary filmmaker seeking funding for a film about what it takes to run for the highest political office and the toll it takes on those who lose. As in the original Tanner '88, the approach of the series blurs the boundary between the factual and the dramatic and features Tanner interacting with real candidates from the present day as well as those from the recent past.
